Role of Vitamin C

Vitamin C Deficiency

Vitamin C is one of the vitamins needed for children’s normal growth and development, especially for the growth and repair of tissues in all parts of the body.

It also promotes wound healing.¹

Lack of Vitamin C results in scurvy.
Signs of scurvy include:

- susceptibility to infections
- lack of strength and energy
- leg and arm swelling
- tender gums
- bleeding from the nose, gums,
  and under the skin
- severe deterioration of bone and cartilage. ²

To help prevent these, ensure kids get enough intake of Vitamin C. ³
And since the body does not produce Vitamin C on its own, it needs to be replenished daily with food rich in Vitamin C or with supplements.
